The jagged saw the crusts the little rill,
which scarce could flow beneath the Summer's heat,
does not attest to Winter's greatest feat;
It merely shows a temp'rate clime's worst chill.
The hoary tops of houses don't instill
the fear of roads encased in crackling sleet
which drives commuters back in shamed defeat.
Willamette winters don't inspire a thrill.
But mod'rate airs don't always show all sides;
The winter winds don't show teeth every year,
and when the Winter comes to call on you,
the bitter winds can slow the body's tides.
But going in to joyous atmosphere
can cheer into the sourest mood imbue
