Attack of the the Eye Creatures

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 10, 2009, 8:29 AM
On a lighter note than my last journal, the MST3K version of Attack of the the Eye Creatures is tremendously funny.

"String."
"STRING!"
"There's a string."

I have to get in my roflcopter and go now.

Amateur advice

To any people of Muslim faith in the United States, especially those who feel like they are being harassed for their faith (even though there's only one person of Muslim faith who watches this account, and he lives in Saudi Arabia.):
Doing something akin to what Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan did at Fort Hood in Texas is only going to make the harassment worse for all the other Muslims in the United States.

The harassment is occurring because a few high-profile attacks were carried out against the US by people of who were, at least nominally, of Muslim faith. This cemented a view in the consciousness of many Americans that "Muslims are scary people who want to hurt us."

On the whole, this is not true. Most Muslims around the world are normal, peaceful people who want nothing more than the chance to live as they please (much like most Catholic Christians in Ireland and Northern Ireland). But, the image is still there in many American's minds, and it is reinforced whenever a high-profile attack is carried out by someone who identifies as a Muslim tries to hurt or kill people.

Executing an attack the way Maj. Hasan did will only cause people to feel justified in harassing people who seem to fit the stereotype of a Muslim terrorist. It makes things worse.

Now, with that said, I'll bring back one of my earlier points: Almost no-one who identifies themselves as a Muslim is going to go on a rampage and kill innocent people.
The fear people feel isn't rooted in reality, but in the news-shaped perception of reality that many people have, their fear feels like it is perfectly justified.

Yeah... I watched Dr. Strangelove (Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb) last night.
Kinda bizarre. I think I'll get more out of it the second time I watch it.
O-P-E

On a completely unrelated note, I've got two different versions of "John Barleycorn Must Die" stuck in my head.
"And little Sir John's in the nut-brown bowl, and he's brandy in the glass. And little Sir John in the nut-brown bowl proved the strongest man at last."

So, I read the short story "The Nameless City" by H. P. Lovecraft, and I was reminded of his better-received story "The Call of C'thulhu".

So I got started on a C'thulhu kick. Not the Cutehulhu. He's lame. But the real eldritch abomination, strike sober-minded men with madness C'thulhu.

I faved a few things and put a C'thulhu section in my faves. If you like looking at eldritch abominations and priests of the Old Ones, check it out.

Also, This. "What to say: Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

EDIT
I did end up putting a Cutehulhu section in. *gag*\
